A small plate on a house near Heilig Geist Spital remembers charitable deeds: Konrad Gross founded the Heilig-Geist Spital in 1332 for sick and old people. It is still used as a nursing home.
In the year 1486 the pharmacy next to it was founded by citizens of Nuremberg. It is also still a pharmacy, so when you're in Nuremberg with a headache, you can buy your pain killers at a historic site, between Hauptmarkt and Pegnitz. The drugs they sell are modern, of course ;-)

I love little pieces of history such as this. It really gives you a sense of connection to the past.
That's amazing...1300s? Around here when something gets to be 13 years old, we tear it down or it falls down.

That typeface is very often used for that sort of thing in Germany isn't it. Is it a traditional printed type? It has a very interesting look.
Mountainboy: I'm actually not sure how old that plate is -- it could well be from the 1950s or 1960s, where a similar style was popular for printed matter, or for church decorations, or it could be much older. I'm not a typographer, so don't ask me about fonts ;-)
